Wire diameter is really a measure of the thickness in the wires in the wire mesh. When possible, please specify wire diameter in decimal inches as opposed to in wire gage.

Wire Spacing of Welded Wire Mesh
Wire spacing is often a measure through the center of just one wire to the center with the next. Should the opening is rectangular, wire spacing will have two dimensions: one for the long side (length) and something to the short side (width) of the opening. One example is, wire spacing = 1 inch (length) by 0.4 inch (width) opening.

Wire spacing, when expressed because the variety of openings per lineal inch, is called mesh.


Mesh Height and width of Welded Wire Mesh
Mesh may be the number of openings per lineal inch. Mesh is obviously measured in the centers from the wires.

When mesh is over one (which is, the openings are greater than 1 inch), mesh is measured in inches. By way of example, a couple-inch (2") mesh is two inches from center to center. Mesh is not the comparable to opening size.
